Markus "Notch" Persson has effectively cancelled 0x10c, his remarkably ambitious space exploration game featuring programmable computers.
Persson confirmed that 0x10c would be shelved during a Twitch livestream earlier this month, which was put "on ice" earlier this year. "Nope," he said, responding to a question about whether he planned to continue working on the title. "There are no future aspirations for 0x10c. If somebody at the office wants to do it, then yeah - but I'm just going to be working on small games for the rest of my life."
Speaking of "small games," Notch recently released a zombie shooter developed during a game jam. You can play it for free.
All hope is not lost, however, in that a cabal of eager fans are keen to see 0x10c through. They're currently marshalling resources and coders on Reddit, should you fancy taking a look or even getting involved. [via CVG]
