Just Cause 2 £12.95 @ Zavvi

Here at Dealspwn we believe in getting your money's worth and so, it would seem thanks to Just Cause 2, do Square-Enix. Rico Rodriguez's first outing was an enjoyable, if somewhat flawed, romp through a Caribbean island that suffered from being too large and too sparse. The entire thought process behind that game's sequel can pretty much be summed up in one word: more! This is a much bigger game (it'll take you literally hours to drive around the island), there are villages to pillage everywhere, hundreds of collectibles strewn across a map that appears to house every single terrain type you can think, and more things that go boom than ever before. If John McTiernan, Paul Verhoeven, James Cameron, Michael Bay and John Woo all got together there'd still be fewer explosions than you'll find in this game.

Intrigued? Curious? Slightly aroused? Well, you'll be pleased to know that Zavvi have dropped their price on the PC version of the game to just £12.95 which is the cheapest it's been so far since the game's March release. Not only that, it's currently around£4 than anyone else at the moment.

Just Cause 2 is one of those refreshingly fun games of the modern era. I don't mean that recent games aren't fun, but that it seems a vast majority of games these days are crushingly serious, especially if you venture into competitive online matches. This is a game that knows exactly what it is, plonking you down on an enormous island paradise with a bunch of weapons, a grappling hook and a parachute  and essentially leaving you to your own devices. Any game where I can base jump off of a mountain, whip out my parachute, blow up a nuclear base with a few well-placed rockets, slingshot over a cliff with my grappling hook only to land on the bonnet of a truck and surf to safety gets a gold star in my book.

Yes, there are flaws. The story is negligible, the voice acting atrocious and Panau itself will astound and overwhelm you with its size, but by god you'll have some fun! Give my review a read if you're not convinced just yet.
