I love Just Cause 2. It's absolutely enormous, you really get a whole load of bang for your buck, and this time the island paradise Rico is attempting to liberate or subjugate or annihilate or whatever is actually pretty densely peppered with things to do, things t collect and things to blow up.
The Hut are currently offering both console versions of the game for 2p less than their cousins over at Zavvi, but after that you'll be looking at spending over £20.
Let's face it, the eponymous phrase 'just cause' doesn't really refer to any sort of altruistic, freedom fighting narrative. We don't really give a damn about any of that and the voice acting's so utterly awful that cutscenes get skipped and culled with extreme prejudice. It's the defining reason behind everything that happens in the game: Why does Rico have a glorified Hookshot? Just 'cause. Why does he have to blow up absolutely everything he sees around him? Just 'cause. Why the hell is he wearing the most impractical footwear imaginable for traversing jungles and deserts and mountains? Just 'cause.
Switch off your brain, dive into Rico's world and revel in a game that's really all about having a barnstorming time and making things go BOOM!
