Classic Game: Goldeneye £2.99 @ Any Gamestation [N64 Games]

Classic Game: Goldeneye £2.99 @ Any Gamestation [N64 Games]Goldeneye is easily one of the most legendary first person shooters ever made and a game which has to be up there in the top five to play before you die. So if you have an old N64 lying around and fancy once more stalking the corridors of the Facility with your silenced PP7, copies are now going for the low price of £2.99 from all Gamestation stores.

Although it looks a bit dated now – with some arguing that this one is better left to memory – Goldeneye is an FPS which truly delivers in every respect. The game has stacks of great weapons, superb levels, great visuals (for the 64 generation anyway), and one of the most entertaining multiplayer formats ever. And even though some argue this one is better left to memory, to be quite honest, after playing the game recently it does grow on you again very quickly.

Sure the graphics look a bit ropey to begin with and it takes a little while to adjust to the N64, but after a few goes, the game is just as much fun as ever. There is nothing more satisfying than playing multiplayer mode with AKs and grenades and managing to time one so that it goes off right in your opponents face. So if you want to relive the Goldeneye experience once again, get down to your local Gamestation because for £3 these are going to be selling out fast.

Sony PSP Go £199.97 Pre-Order @ Tesco Direct [PSP Games]

Sony PSP Go £199.97 Pre Order @ Tesco Direct [PSP Games]A great deal here for anyone looking to invest in a PSP GO. Tesco are offering customers the opportunity to pre-order one of PlayStation’s latest hand held gaming devices for £199.97. This gives you a great saving, as according to Hotukdeals you’d be hard pressed to find a pre-order price below £230 – with Play.com currently charging £250.

However, the PSP GO has caused a fair amount controversy. Unlike the original PSP, the GO has no UMD drive meaning that all games will now be digitally downloaded. Many owners of the original PSP are annoyed by the fact that PlayStation have not yet revealed whether old PSP games will be transferable onto the GO. Although there are rumours that Playstation are looking for some way round this problem, nothing has yet been confirmed.

In terms of its form, the PSP is dubbed to be more streamlined than its predecessor. The console is 43% lighter than the PSP 3000 and has a 3.8 inch screen which slides up similar to the Sony Mylo. At a recent press conference, Sony confirmed that some of their most popular game franchises including Little Big Planet, Gran Turismo and Metal Gear Solid will all be released in the new PSP format.

However to buy these, customers will now have to take their console into game stores and purchase a direct download. This has fuelled speculation that the company are intending phase out UMDs altogether, more or less forcing PSP owners to upgrade. Although this deal certainly offers a very competitive price for the GO, the console’s overall value for money continues to be debated.

Steam Weekend Deal: Relic Superpack: 2 x Company of Heroes games and 2 x Warhammer 40,000 games @ Steam [PC Games]

Steam Weekend Deal: Relic Superpack: 2 x Company of Heroes games and 2 x Warhammer 40,000 games @ Steam [PC Games] In an offer guaranteed not to blow too big a hole in your military thrills budget, this weekend’s steam deal sees four great RTS games going for just £13.49. Although the games are somewhat old, they are still some the best real time strategy titles on market. They consist of Company of Heroes, Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War and Warhammer 40,000 Gold Edition. However if you already own a few of these games you can download them individually at £6.99 each.

Overall this offer gives you 50% off the averge price and is a good opportunity to save some money if RTS games are your sort of thing. Although its sequel Dawn of War II has been out for some time, the original Dawn of War is still worth a look. The game combines shooter action with real time strategy as the player leads a team of hardened space marines on a mission to wipe out all opposition. It does look fairly dated now, but still gained top reviews from the likes of Gamespot and IGN, attaining an average 90% rating.

Company of Heroes is another top RTS title which, although it may seem like just another addition to the oversaturated World War 2 game market, is a highly innovative strategy game. It follows American battle group Able Company as they fight through Europe in an attempt to prise the continent from the grip of its Nazi occupiers. The game uses a unique squad based method of AI which cuts down the need for continuous micro management while providing fully interactive, fully destructible environments to wage battles on.

All in all, this deal gives you a good chance to get hold of some top RTS games which are essential to any strategy game enthusiast’s collection. But do remember that this deal is only valid over the weekend and expires on the 3rd of August.

Thanks to Cuddy on HUKD.

Review of Empire: Total War

Review of Empire: Total War

The Rise of Rome: Total War

It is no exaggeration to describe Rome: Total War was one of the most revolutionary strategy games ever made. It was a game which, with its ranks of intricately defined Roman legionaries – staggeringly realistic and a far cry from the fuzzy unresolved masses of the first Medieval edition – forever redefined the Total War series.

Even years later with three great, but by no means radical sequels bringing some refinement to the format, Rome continues to stand the test of time and remains one the most seminal editions to the strategy game genre.

Review of Empire: Total War But were things about to change with Sega’s release of Empire: Total War? Could they bring the reign of the legendary Rome to an end, or would Empire be just another sequel which, however good, simply couldn’t escape Rome’s mighty shadow.

Listening to all the hype about Empire’s vast range of new features and feeling the build up as its release came ever closer, I for one felt assured that it could. However the truth is that for everything which it does so well, Empire: Total War is a game which, ironically, falls far short of Rome and its sequels because it tries so hard to be different.

Empire: Total War Campaign Map

When first getting onto the campaign map, it is obvious that much has Review of Empire: Total War changed. Set in the turbulent 18th century, the player’s colonial ambitions can now span the breadth of three whole continuants. And with the Americas ripe for revolution, rebellion in India, and most of Europe obscured beneath a haze of cannon and musket fire, everything is there for the taking. But the truth is that for however large the campaign map might seem, changes to the layout of provinces do much to undermine the game’s vast sense of scale.

Unlike Rome and Medieval 2, countries are no longer dissected into provinces. Instead, to take the whole of France for example, the player simply has to capture Paris. To conquer the entire Spanish mainland, they only need capture Madrid. This means that if you play as Britain, struggles against your neighbours are not lengthy, and after only two major battles, a huge chunk of Europe is already incorporated into the empire.

Empire Land Battles

Review of Empire: Total War The problem with the low density of settlements also means that not only do you fight fewer battles, but there are fewer opportunities for sieges. In a game which has so much emphasis on cannons this is curious, and what is even stranger, is that town layouts – so superb in Rome and even better in Medieval 2 – are surprisingly poor. Expecting something that would surpass the aesthetic wonders of Rome when first attacking a capital city in Empire, I couldn’t believe my eyes to discover that the whole place consisted of about six houses, one government building and a crumby town centre.

But what of the battles themselves? Well graphically, as you would expect from a Total War game, they are superb. However, because of the huge emphasis now placed on missile troops, the battles of Empire: Total War demand an entirely different set of tactics compared to its predecessors.

Review of Empire: Total War And as someone who enjoys nothing more than slicing into an opposing army’s flanks with a massive charge of heavy cavalry, simply slogging it out with musket volleys quickly became tiresome. This is of course a matter of taste, but in my opinion, the format does not suit these kinds of battles as well as it suited warfare from the classical and medieval periods.

Naval Battles

Review of Empire: Total War But when considering the games biggest innovation: its use of real time naval battles, it is difficult not to be awestruck. Visually they have to be some of the best graphics of any game I have ever seen.

Watching as the water, from the choppy dark Atlantic to the clear blue of the Caribbean, laps about the hull of your vessels while they slice their way across the water is nothing short of breath taking. Similarly during combat, with the crew scrambling about on deck, full broadsides tearing great gashes in ships and debris littering the water, it just looks phenomenal.

However naval battles are also let down by how difficult the vessels are to micro manage. They must be lined up just so in order to pull of a devastating broadside and just trying to get them all positioned correctly is painstaking work. Also when you have ships of different classes and speed, they will smash into the back of each other unless constantly supervised. Review of Empire: Total War

The ships are also hopelessly inadequate at defending themselves when the player’s attention is focused elsewhere and this means naval battles must be continually paused and un-paused. But worst of all is that other nations hardly bother to beef up their naval capabilities, and this means large scale engagements are rare.

Overall Empire: Total War Review

Had Empire: Total War come along out of the blue as some off the wall, obscure strategy game, I would be the first to sing its praises. But the problem is that when you consider what the game has evolved from, its deficiencies are hard to justify.

Graphically the game’s good, but in many ways not as good as Medieval Kingdoms which was much more spectacular in terms of city layouts. Similarly the battles are enjoyable, but they are repetitive, and lack the dynamism of its TW predecessors. Naval battles could have done much to redeem the game, but although visually superb, they are frustrating to manage. All in all, although Empire: Total War is by means a failure, for me  at least, Rome: Total War still reigns supreme.

GRAW 2 £8.73 @ The Hut [Xbox 360 Games]

GRAW 2 £8.73 @ The Hut [Xbox 360 Games]If you’re into your tactical first person shooters then you’re sure to have come across the Ghost Recon series. Currently, Ghost Recon Advanced War Fighter 2 is going for a very decent £8.73 at the hut. According to price comparison, you’d be hard pressed to get hold of a copy for under £15.

The first Ghost Recon thoroughly wowed audiences upon its release. The strategic, methodical slow pace of the game, combined with great graphics, great explosions, tons of customization options and really satisfying fire fights, made it one of the best first person shooters of recent times. Although the sequel more or less applies the same format as Ghost Recon 1, there is a lot of refinement and some great new features.

The player once again takes control of Captain Scott Mitchell who, one year on from the prior addition, has returned to Mexico City where things have deteriorated into a full blown civil war. This means that the stakes are higher than ever before, with Mitchell and his squad having to face the possibility of a full blown nuclear strike.

On the downside according to IGN , the game is not particularly long which is bit disappointing. However it does have a 16 player multiplayer mode which, although IGN say it would be better if the levels were open to more players, is one of its strongest features. All in all, fans of the first Ghost Recon will not be disappointed. Although the critics always find something to moan about, GRAW 2  still got an averge 90% rating, and would undoubtably make a great addition to you FPS collection.

Virtua Tennis 2009 £24.48 @ Coolshop [PS3 Games]

Virtua Tennis 2009 £24.48 @ Coolshop [PS3 Games]If you’re still reeling from the highs and lows of Wimbledon and feel like it all flashed by too quickly, why not get your hands on Virtua Tennis 2009 on PS3. Currently the game is going for £24.48 on coolshop which, according to price comparison, gives you a nice saving of over £7 on the next best offer of £31.99.

Virtua Tennis 2009 is a game which more or less sticks to the classic tennis game format which we’ve all experienced in previous titles like Power Smash and Sega Sports Tennis. However the biggest problem with gameplay according to Gamespot is that it’s ridiculously easy. The opponent AI is shockingly bad, and simply making contact with the ball assures you a flawless return which almost never goes out.

The bulk of the game consists of its World Tour Mode in which the player must gradually chip away at their overall world ranking. Beginning at about number 100 the player must achieve higher status by taking part in international tournaments. However, thanks to the game’s low difficulty, matches are neither challenging nor entertaining. Gamespot argue that after around ten hours of continuous gameplay against diabolically dreadful opponents you finally attain top ranking.

But the lack of diversity means that reaching this goal in Virtua Tennis is more of a chore than a challenge. The multiplayer mode does salvage things somewhat because it eclipses the awful AI. However multiplayer is also plagued with it own problems such as lagging and all sorts of inconsistencies like being able to return a ball which has bounced twice. Overall, with its dull and repetitive gameplay Virtua Tennis 2009 is unfortunately one the worst editions to the franchise. However this is what Gamespot argue, and if you have an entirely different take why not comment below.

From Clearing Out PS3s to Faith on the Wii: News Roundup 30th July

Today we will find out about the newly released Uncharted 2 website. Also we will look at new concept art which suggests that Mirror’s Edge will be coming to the Nintendo Wii, PSP and Nintendo DS. Additionally more info on LittleBigPlanet PSP is released with “Cross-Talk” with the PS3. Finally we discover why WHSmith are selling their PS3 stocks for so cheap.

Official Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Website goes Live

From Clearing Out PS3s to Faith on the Wii: News Roundup 30th July

The new flash website has gone live containing both trailers and some unreleased screenshots for fans. The flash site allows you to explore the Nepal Warzone (as featured in the Multiplayer Beta), read up on the latest news, comment in the forums with other fans and read up on the story for the game. Click the link to prepare for the release of one of the biggest games this year. [Uncharted 2 Official Website]

Mirror’s Edge coming to Wii, PSP and DS?

From Clearing Out PS3s to Faith on the Wii: News Roundup 30th July

Based on some new released concept art rumours have increased over Faith heading to the Wii, PSP and DS. The rumoured concept art seems to add to the view that Mirror’s Edge will go multiplatform, which is further supported by EA general trend of going multi-platform with their games. LittleBigPlanet PSP to “Cross Talk” with the PS3

From Clearing Out PS3s to Faith on the Wii: News Roundup 30th July

Following the announcement of LittleBigPlanet PSP we found out about what Sony Call “Cross-Talk” between the PSP and PS3 version. This will allow owners of the PS3 version to unlock bonus content on the PSP version of the game. Although details of what these bonuses are still remain secret. Furthermore news of a Playstation Network demo and news of a “multi-million dollar marketing push “for the game have also come to surface due to coincide with the release of the PSP Go. [joystiq]

WHSmith confirm PS3 Slim this year?

From Clearing Out PS3s to Faith on the Wii: News Roundup 30th July

Following the recent deal at WHSmiths which saw the PS3 being sold for bargain price of £200, website GhostStorm recently got into contact with WHSmith to ask why they were selling the PS3s for such a low price. WHSmith confirmed that they would no longer be selling the PS3 in their stores as they stated “We are clearing PS3s to make room for any new products that may come from Sony in the future.”

However as this answer is vague, one can suggest that as it is unlikely that WHSmith would stop selling the PS3 completely as they are continuing to sell the console online and they will continue to sell software both instore and online, a new version of the PS3 i.e. the Slim may be arriving this year and so therefore WHSmith are clearing their PS3 stock in anticipation of the PS3 Slim? The Godfather II £7.98 @ Coolshop [PC Games]

The Godfather II £7.98 @ Coolshop [PC Games]Coolshop have a great price on Godfather II at the moment and copies of the game are currently going for £7.98. According to price comparison this is the cheapest copy available by nearly £10 with a next best price of £17.95.

However although this is a good saving, the game is certainly not worth anymore than £10. Sadly – especially for fans of the original GodfatherGodfather 2 is simply another addition to the ever growing league of truly dreadful game sequels. The story centres on the character of Dominic, a Corleone underboss who, after the disastrous Cuban expedition, is sent to oversee the family’s interests in New York. Overall the story is dire, with terrible voice acting and great Godfather lines constantly being misquoted and taken out of context.

Even when you disregard the awful story and concentrate on gameplay, things don’t improve. Admittedly there is an impressive selection of weapons but the fire fights just aren’t satisfying. Unlike the original Godfather, the guns just don’t  pack a punch. To make matters worse the AI is very poor. Enemies have little interest in self preservation and will either stand in the open waiting to get shot or just do suicidal charges. The Don’s View and the fact you can now recruit gang members could have done much to redeem the game, but these features are let down by repetitive gameplay and terrible AI.

All in all it is frustrating that the designers felt the need to reinvent the format. By doing so, they have inadvertently invented a load of problems which weren’t present in the game’s predecessor. The game is also terribly buggy, and the fact it has been released in this half baked state and had a £30 price tag slapped on it is insulting to consumers. Although it gives you a nice saving, the game shouldn’t have cost anymore than £10 in the first place.

Braid £4.95 @ Direct2Drive [PC Games]

Braid £4.95 @ Direct2Drive [PC Games]With well rendered visuals, challenging gameplay and a thoughtful story, Braid is a 2d platform game which boldly proves that this classic format is far from dead and buried. So if you’re interested in acquiring a copy, the game is available for download priced £4.95 from direct2drive. This is about half the price on the next best deal, although bear in mind that this offer only lasts until the 2nd of  August.

The story of Braid follows the quest of the main character Tim who, after making some sort of mistake, loses a beautiful princess. The game involves collecting pieces of various works of art which, when assembled, tell Tim’s evocative story. IGN describe the story as one about regret which is in ‘sharp contrast’ to the more traditional platform game narratives.

In terms of gameplay, Braid is a bit like Super Mario with its fast pace and need for quick reflexes. However, it is also more forgiving in the sense that when dead, the player is able to rewind time and try again. But although this may sound a bit too convenient, this rewind ability is incorporated into the gameplay in numerous interesting ways.

On the downside the game is not all that long and can be completed by a determined player in a matter of hours. However it is also very challenging which might not be to the liking of gamers who are easily frustrated. Overall, Braid offers an interesting and original take on a classic format, and is definitely worth a go for anyone looking for something slightly different.

From Running to Little Big Planet: News Roundup 29th July

Run!! is “officially” the hardest game ever to exist according to flytrap games in today’s news roundup.  In other news, Gearbox president admits his fear in releasing Borderlands, a gaming community blackmails Infinity Ward, and Little Big Planet is set to receive more creation tools.

Run!! The Hardest Game in Existence

From Running to Little Big Planet: News Roundup 29th July

According to flytrap games online game Run!! Is a more than just hard.   They believe the game “has travelled right through what we normally class as “hard” and into some crazed Platonic realm of ultimate hardness”.   It’s seems flapping your arms around until you take off and fly seems easier to these guys than playing this game.

The main thing that happens if you try this game is you will die, a lot.  The aim of the game is simple, hold down the “A” key to run, and avoid stuff…and that’s pretty much it!  Good timing is essential for success, so give it a go if you think you’ve got it.  [FlyTrap]

Gearbox President Terrified Of Releasing Borderlands

From Running to Little Big Planet: News Roundup 29th July

GearBox president Randy Pitchford recently expressed his concerns and downright fear in releasing Borderlands in today’s gaming climate.  With Halo ODST and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 likely to dominate this holiday season, releasing a new and original IP sounds like a daunting prospect.   “When people take risks and it’s not rewarded, in the case of Mirror’s Edge, it makes it harder for others to be comfortable taking risks” said Pitchford.

Yeah, I’m terrified. And [Borderlands is] an original brand, too, so it’s even more risky”.  Although Pitchford remains positive the game could succeed saying “There are those of us that play everything and we’re begging for fresh stuff, so I’m hoping that helps.  And if it’s good, it’ll get noticed”.  [1UP]

Infinity Ward Blackmailed For Free Games

From Running to Little Big Planet: News Roundup 29th July

Modern Warfare 2 isn’t even out yet, but a forward thinking group has deviously planned to blackmail Activision on their domain modernwarfare4.com.  ZiiP Gaming Community own the domain, and has left a message to Activision regarding their demands.

If you are reading this, you may well be the web administrator for Infinity Ward. If you are, there is a chance that you may well require this domain. Don’t worry, you can have it – in exchange for a little ‘good will gesture’ for the little gaming community that owns this domain and has been playing your games for years. What we’d like is a copy of the game that this domain would be used for, – one copy for each and every member of our gaming community”.

The plan may be along way off from fruition, probably about four years, but if it ever happened it would mean a free copy of the game for all 62 current members of the website.   Activision has not commented yet and probably don’t negotiate with terrorists[Spong]

Little Big Plant to Get More Creation Tools

From Running to Little Big Planet: News Roundup 29th July

Little Big Planet has pretty solid level creation tools, but Media Molecule has confirmed thy want to take them even further in the next batch of DLC.   “A lot of our DLC so far has been based around expanding our palletes, if you like; more costumes, more stickers, and things like this” said co-founder Mark Healy.   “A big part of what’s coming in the future expands on what’s possible in Little Big Planet in terms of it being a creation tool”.  When this will be made available is unclear, but couldn’t be too far off.  [VG247]

Buy a Nintendo DS Lite or DSi, Add a Selected Game for £10 and an Accessory Pack for Free @ Amazon [DS Games]

Buy a Nintendo DS Lite or DSi, Add a Selected Game for £10 and an Accessory Pack for Free @ Amazon [DS Games]If If you’re looking to get hold of a Nintendo DS, Amazon are currently running a  deal which might interested you. They are offering a bundle pack which includes a DS lite or DSi, along with one game for £10 and a free accessories pack.

Although this might sound confusing, Amazon have broken the deal down into 3 steps:

1)      Firstly you add the DS lite or DSi to your basket. On Amazon, a black DSi will set you back £134.99. This is not exactly the best price according to price comparison as on Zavvi you can get hold of a black DSi for £124.95. Probably the best deal on Amazon for a DS console is a pink DS lite which costs £98.96 – just a few quid more expensive than the cheapest offer from Shopto of £94.99.

2)      The second step is to add one of the listed games. The selection doesn’t exactly consist of the greatest DS titles. You can either get Hannah Montana, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, Classic Word Games or Brain Training. Adding anyone of these titles to your basket costs a further £10.

3)      Finally you can then choose a free accessories pack. This consists of a few extra styluses, a wrist strap, cleaning cloth, console carry case and a couple of game cases. On Amazon this would normally set you back £7.99.

The potential saving varies depending on what DS console and game you opt for. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is probably the best game as the cheapest copy from coolshop is £19.99. So you can get the game for half price, although if you choose a black DS from Amazon this £10 the saving is cancelled out because the same console is £10 cheaper from Zavvi. You would only really be getting a free accessory pack.

But if you went for a pink DS lite with Harry Potter you would make a good saving of somewhere in the region of £20. This is of course when comparing the deal with the cheapest prices these items are going for individually. Compared to buying them separately on Amazon, you would of course be saving a lot more money. Overall this deal does have some potential although someone on the original thread said Tesco were offering an even better one. So before committing yourself, it might be worth shopping around.

Wanted: Weapons Of Fate + Wanted DVD £17.99 @ Amazon [Xbox 360 Game]

Wanted: Weapons Of Fate + Wanted DVD £17.99 @ Amazon [Xbox 360 Game]

Amazon is offering Wanted: Weapons of Fate on the Xbox 360 bundled with the Wanted film on DVD, for only £17.99! If you consider the cheapest offer for the game is £14.99, and the film £4.98, it’s a two-pound reduction and a game and film to enjoy!

Both the game and the film of Wanted fared similarly in the ratings, with decidedly mixed results. Some critics praised the kinetic action and gory detail, whereas others disliked the derivative story and amoral spirit, earning the game a 62/100 and the film a 64/100 on MetaCritic.

The film sees Wesley Gibson, a meek, depressed pencil-pusher, become an expert assassin, uncovering his fabled lineage and eventually overthrowing the corrupt Fraternity who trained him. Weapons of Fate follows Wesley in his death-soaked journey, channelling the film’s action-fuelled bombast.

Wanted: Weapons of Fate is a traditional third-person shooter, replete with ubiquitous cover-system, ala Gears of War. Wesley must zigzag from cover to cover, spraying bullets like a fireman dousing a raging inferno. Wesley can perform brutal takedowns, as well as the film’s trademark ‘curve the bullet’, where Wesley manipulates the bullet’s trajectory around objects and into enemy’s craniums!

Ultimately, the derivative nature of the gameplay and lack of any variety condemn Wanted: Weapons of Fate to the crowded graveyard of rotten film adaptations. It manages to retain the film’s spirit, but a game needs more than shooting an set-piece after set-piece to invigorate players, regardless of how awesome a gravity-defying climb through an upended, descending plane is!

Star Fox Command £6.99 @ Play [DS Game]

Enjoy aerial combat and online dogfights in Star Fox Command on the Nintendo DS, available from Play for only £6.99, with their customary offer of free delivery!

Zipped into a price-comparison, Play’s offer for Star Fox Command evaded the competition to emerge as the cheapest available, a five-pound reduction from Play’s original deal! A welcome return to Star Fox’s roots, following the disappointing hack-and-slash affairs, Command earned 76/100 on MetaCritic, with Yahoo claiming “this is better action than we deserve in a portable”.

Star Fox Command has you commanding both your Star Fox vessel on the top screen, and Battleships-esque radar on the bottom, with the stylus organizing between four other ships and ordering their method of approach and attack. Unlike the original Star Fox games, which had minimal control of the vessel itself, Command has you controlling the vessel’s entire range of motion. In Star Fox Command, between the aerial dogfights and tactical strategizing, you must destroy enemy strongholds, remove their aerial presence and collect vital resources. Upon completing levels, you’re given the choice of various routes, each offering different character dialogue and banter to listen to.

The series’ online virginity is lost with Star Fox Command’s online and local multiplayer, with up to six players supported. However, the objective is to collect Stars left over from destroyed enemies, instead of actually destroying them. Although this still means combat is vital, cunning players can opt to scavenge for Stars and avoid combat altogether!

Elements of Destruction £5.73 @ The Hut [DS Games]

Elements of Destruction £5.73 @ The Hut [DS Games]When you really need to let off some steam there’s nothing quite like unleashing the wrath of Mother Nature upon some helpless city in Elements of Destruction. So if you own a DS and are looking for a bit of gaming catharsis, EOD is now going for just £5.73 at the hut. According to a price comparison this gives you a nice saving of over £7 compared with the next best price of £12.98.

The story behind Elements of Destruction centres upon a disenfranchised weatherman who, with the ability to manipulate the weather as he sees fit, embarks on a crusade of destruction after he loses his job. Basically the idea of the game is to unleash everything from tornados, storms, blizzards, earthquakes and even meteors upon the helpless city, and pretty much kill as many people possible within the allotted time.

The game is by all accounts an absolute hoot with the weatherman devastating everything from skyscrapers to idyllic suburbs with Old Testament style fury. It is also a much more challenging game than you might think with a lot of emphasise on strategy. With their tight time limits, most players will need several attempts to pass some of the later levels

About the only drawback with the game comes with its poor visuals and sound quality which unfortunately do somewhat undermine the gameplay. However Elements of Destruction is still a very decent title, scoring 7/10 on IGN, and one which would definitely make an entertaining addition to your DS game collection.
