Now this is more like it for PS3 fans. Finally you can pick up the World Cup rehash of FIFA 10 for under £20, courtesy of Simply Games, saving you a good fiver or so whilst you wait for the competition to catch up.
Incidentally, Xbox owners will be pleased to know that the low Zavvi price is still going, and if you own Microsoft's tub of tricks you can pick the game up for even less at £17.95, saving you about £7.
I own FIFA 10 so I don't really see the point in getting this until it becomes available for under £10 and, by that time, I'm guessing FIFA 11 will have come out so the probability is that this will never quite make it onto my gaming shelf. That said, I can see the allure that this might have for some, although the only real difference between the two games is that this version lacks a bunch of teams and is marginally shinier.
Oh...and the licence.
Lest we forget that this is a World Cup game, the competition logo and sponsors are emblazoned everywhere, confetti falls before every match and there's a great sense of spectacle about each and every game. Which is how it should be. There's a suitable atmosphere of importance and grandeur about it all.
But unfortunately that only really extends to the superficial. In terms of playing the game, it's all pretty much the same, only there's less of it, thus exposing the shamelessly material nature of this title's existence.
It's the lowest it's been though, so we won't judge you for buying it...much.
