The game gives you a choice from any of the 199 nations available and all 10 world cup stadiums can be accessed. If you're a fan of the Fifa games then you'll know exactly how to weave your players around the pitch in order to lead them to victory. The graphics during fixtures are pretty standard, closeups of the players and the crowd look good, unfortunately the stands look incredibly bland in comparison and the confetti that rains down on you before the start of the game makes it look like you've picked up a snowy transmission on an old TV aerial.
There are quite a few modes to choose from including penalty shootouts and entering directly into the tournament. Captain Your Country makes a welcome return and you can choose to play as either a known player, a created player, or your Virtual Pro from Fifa 2010. You can also take part in iconic matches from the qualifying stages of the 2010 World Cup and the finals from the previous World Cup. Also, the multiplayer mocks up full matches online, so you'll be able to put your friends' teams to shame over the internet.
Before starting matches you can tweak a number of options including formation, tactics, and player marking, which makes it feel like you've got some managerial control over the team as well. You can also view a range of match statistics once the games are over such as player breakdowns and man of the match.
This is a fun title that'll definitely keep you going during the quiet periods of this year's tournament.
