“Reinvention Of Populous” From The Man Who Made The Original

The next project from the Curiosity developers 22cans has now been revealed; Project GODUS. Touted as “a delightful reinvention of the god game from 22cans and Peter Molyneux, who created the genre,” the title has gone onto Kickstarter to in order to secure the funds it needs to be made.

Described as a blend of “the power, growth and scope of Populous with the detailed construction and multiplayer excitement of Dungeon Keeper and the intuitive interface and technical innovation of Black & White,” 22cans hopes to raise £450,000 during its month-long crowd-funding campaign. Additional details suggest that the multiplayer will see two teams of 8 gods battling it out for supremacy, and that it will be developed initially for PC and mobile devices (although more platforms are up for consideration if stretch goals come into play.)

Pledge rewards range from a heartfelt thanks, all the way up to a VIP invite to next year’s E3 as Peter Molyneux’s special guest, along with copies of the game and beta access. Should you wish to throw some money their way or find out a little more about Project GODUS, you can click on the conveniently placed widget below.

Can 22cans recreate the magic from the classic strategy titles Bullfrog Productions? We’re certainly eager to find out, and will keep you posted as more information on Project GODUS appears.

He had ads for this on the Curiosity cube last night.*
Can't blame him - we'd all do the same.

*Yeah, I'm still tapping away at that bloody thing - though it's mainly a case of logging in once a day to see what it looks like. It's running a lot more smoothly now, btw, and is shedding a couple of layers every day.
CVG's blog is handy if you want to see the layers you missed.
