3DS Breaks Japanese Sales Records

Boom. Enterbrain has revealed that the 3DS shattered Japanese sales records over the December period - shifting 1,492,931 units in a single month. No other console has managed to sell more units in Japan over a one-month period since records began in 1997. The competing PS Vita, in contrast, sold 402,794 in a fortnight. [Andriasang]

After what can only be described as a strong launch followed by a catastrophic and disappointing few months, the 3DS is now gathering serious momentum in its home territory.
