3DS Circle Pad Pro Dated For January

Bundled With Resident Evil: Revelations

Nintendo has finally announced a European release date for the controvesial Circle Pad Pro 3DS attachment. The new peripheral, which cradles your 3DS console while adding an extra thumbstick, will launch on 27th January 2012 as a standalone extra or as part of a Resident Evil: Revelations bundle. Prices TBA.

We're still not sure what to think about the Circle Pad Pro. In many ways, it's a tacit admission that third party publishers (Capcom chief among them) are dubious about whether the 3DS can support their wares - and a divisive move that Nintendo really doesn't need in the midst of a consumer confidence crisis. What do you make of it - and more importantly, how much would you pay for it?

Simple reason why i wont be buying it is that it looks horrendous.. but clearly means a new 3DS is just round the corner.. just glad mine only cost £50... so don't feel too bummed about it.

Care to share how it only cost you £50?

At a guess, trading in an old DS?

Horrible horrible piece of kit, and a clear admission the current 3DS design is flawed. As NIL says, surely a redesign will be announced soon. (Or maybe not - they arguably have form in recent years for announcing new tech early, way before it's ready...)

Yeah sorry, GAME were doing an offer when trading in an old DSI. Traded in the wifes and got me a cheap xmas pressie. Sorry for false hope!

I too was excited by the possibly-amazing Game DSL trade-in offer only to find out this week that it's finished and now you only get £30 for a DSL. I got my 3DS from Sainsbury's instead.

Anyway, sorry for going OT there. I think from the picture's we've seen of the CPP that it does look horrible and like some tacky 3rd party after-market peripheral used to rake in extra cash from naive consumers. The picture also looks like it's either been taken on a 3DS' own camera or a 1st gen digital camera.

What's the betting everyone goes and get's one though? lol.

Oh right fair enough. I was aware of that deal, I thought I might have missed a glitch or something.
