As well as waiting for a strong first-party games lineup, the 3DS is still waiting on a major firmware update that will add the eShop virtual marketplace, web browser, DSiWare transfer functionality and other upgrades. The update was originally slated for "late May," but according to a new note on Nintendo of America's website, it's been held back by a couple of weeks.
The firmware update is now dated for the "evening of June 6th" in North America, meaning that us Europeans can expect it the next day if it's set for a simultaneous global rollout. The Japanese launch is also set for June 7th, which interestingly happens to coincide with Nintendo's E3 presser. I daresay that more details will be forthcoming during the convention. [via Joystiq]
