Nintendo Announces 3DS Events
StreetPassing is one of the most enjoyable facets of the 3DS experience (alongside the enormous wealth of excellent games - we'll have our Soul Hackers review ready for you soon), but many UK gamers haven't been able to enjoy the functionality to the full on our eyes-down, antisocial streets. Nintendo has now announced that September 28th is National Streetpass Day, with events hosted at London Waterloo and Manchester Piccadilly stations.
Kicking off at 9am, these meet and greet events are effectively a flashmob; encouraging 3DS owners to turn up, Streetpass each other (to gain virtual puzzle pieces, enjoy Streetpass Quest and gain game-specific bonuses) and befriend like-minded people for future online sessions. It's a great opportunity to nab some rare items in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, for example, or throw down in some ad-hoc multiplayer.
"Nintendo 3DS owners will have the perfect chance to meet and increase their StreetPass hits, win prizes in exclusive competitions, meet and take photos with Nintendo characters, take part in multiplayer challenges and even join in as Nintendo bring giant versions of StreetPass games to life," reads the press release. More details will be shared on the Nintendo 3DS twitter account and Facebook page.
Do be aware, though, that any pickpocket with an internet connection also knows that this is happening.
