Be advised: Titanfall's second map pack is inbound...

...in September?!

Expedition was a fun little jaunt containing one of the best maps in the entire game thus far, but with players still clamouring for content despite a major pending update, Titanfall's second map pack can't come soon enough. Especially for season pass holders who already (and ill-advisedly) parted with their cash ahead of time.

Respawn boss Vince Zampella has some good and bad news for you.

"We have three DLC packs coming, one of which has been released already," Zampella told CVG at E3, via Videogamer. "The next one should come in three months, and then the last one three months after that, approximately."

"We have free updates that we're doing also, like the next one which adds two new game modes, voice packs and Titan emblems."

We've already discussed and dissected the aforementioned major update, which looks utterly fantastic, while launch windows for the two remaining map packs comes as music to our ears HANG ON A SECOND. "Three months?"

That would be September, give or take. Placing the last map pack just before Christmas, when chances are we may well have a few extra games to pay attention to, putting things mildly.

It's always nice to have content to look forward to throughout the year, but Respawn's glacial pace of delivering Titanfall's updates and map packs isn't doing them any favours. The problem with putting the emphasis on core gameplay over cosmetic unlocks and metagame is that longevity ultimately relies on extra content and features.

"Normally you ship a game and go on vacation," Zampella continued, "but we've just shipped a game and now we're still working on it, updating it and adding new maps."

We applaud the sentiment. Only... could you perhaps go a little faster?

"Normally you ship a game and go on vacation," Zampella continued, "but we've just shipped a game and now we're still working on it, breaking it..."

Fixed.

Nice to see new maps coming. I agree September's a bit of a long wait, though. Whether I buy that pack will depend on what else I'm playing. If they'd made it July, or early August then it'd probably be a dead-cert buy for me. But by September I expect to be busy with something else (Destiny and Lego Batman 3 spring to mind).

A map pack in December doesn't stand much chance of being bought. Too many exciting looking games coming out in October/November for me to still be playing a game I bought in March, reached top level in in early May, and effectively gave up on in late May.

I could be wrong but I think he means three months after the first pack (so, soonish). The achievements have gone up on xbox.com today, which doesn't normally happen so far in advance

That's what I initially assumed, but the phrasing seems fairly watertight (and even then, we'd still be looking at late August). Sadly, the new achievements are for Expedition - they're being added very late, not in advance of new content as far as I know.

Please Respawn, remove the match making and just list servers. It's beyond a joke now; especially when waiting with friends.
At weekend we waited 10 mins to join a game, sometimes there would be enough players to start a game (6) but matchmaker put us all on the same side.. Then we sit in the lobby waiting like lemons.

The system is broken, it cannot handle it, it cannot do as good as job as humans at picking a server (and why it cannot I have no idea). Just give us a list of servers, with space, lets us pick one.

Love playing Titanfall, hate the server matchmaker. The game is dying on it's **** because of it.

I thought matchmaking was much improved this weekend.

I wasn't quite getting games as quickly as when Titanfall first came out, as I had to wait 3 or 4 minutes once or twice - but it was definitely a damned site better than it's been for the last month or so where it's often (usually?) been taking about half an hour for each match.
I think it was averaging about 2 minutes between games yesterday - often much quicker.

There's definitely a lot of room for improvement. But I'm happy that I can actually play it again, now.

Was also nice to see the other new stuff. I now have nearly 100 burn cards in stock (I keep forgetting to use them); the new Marked For Death game mode was quite good fun (but I moved back to hardpoint after a while); and I need to do some thinking and experimenting with my loadout - because my favourite weapon, the Carbine, is much less effective now (which is a good thing - it was too good).

The new Titan voices are rubbish, mind. The butler's too quiet, and the electronic-woman is grating. I'm perfectly happy to stick with the old one, though.
