Expedition was a fun little jaunt containing one of the best maps in the entire game thus far, but with players still clamouring for content despite a major pending update, Titanfall's second map pack can't come soon enough. Especially for season pass holders who already (and ill-advisedly) parted with their cash ahead of time.
Respawn boss Vince Zampella has some good and bad news for you.
"We have three DLC packs coming, one of which has been released already," Zampella told CVG at E3, via Videogamer. "The next one should come in three months, and then the last one three months after that, approximately."
"We have free updates that we're doing also, like the next one which adds two new game modes, voice packs and Titan emblems."
We've already discussed and dissected the aforementioned major update, which looks utterly fantastic, while launch windows for the two remaining map packs comes as music to our ears HANG ON A SECOND. "Three months?"
That would be September, give or take. Placing the last map pack just before Christmas, when chances are we may well have a few extra games to pay attention to, putting things mildly.
It's always nice to have content to look forward to throughout the year, but Respawn's glacial pace of delivering Titanfall's updates and map packs isn't doing them any favours. The problem with putting the emphasis on core gameplay over cosmetic unlocks and metagame is that longevity ultimately relies on extra content and features.
"Normally you ship a game and go on vacation," Zampella continued, "but we've just shipped a game and now we're still working on it, updating it and adding new maps."
We applaud the sentiment. Only... could you perhaps go a little faster?
