Alien: Are The Creative Assembly Teasing For An Upcoming Reveal?

The Creative Assembly have been incredibly quiet regarding their Alien-related game, announced back in 2011. Until now, that is.

A blurry screenshot that seems to show a female crash dummy figure in a Nostromo-branded shirt has emerged online, and the Creative Assembly have updated their Twitter background to reveal a screen of the Nostromo crew in their sleeping pods.

The eagle-eyed folks over at AvP Galaxy spotted the first image on an employee's PC monitor in a photo that has since been redacted.

Now, given the lack of goodwill towards SEGA considering their handling of the Aliens: Colonial Marines fiasco, this could be some light trolling.

Alternatively, it could hint towards some upcoming reveal of some sort.

There's a little box art shot of a Xenomorph egg on the Creative Assembly website that links straight to the jobs section, and the studio are looking for an experienced games tester for "Alien IP: Critical Mission Path".

Thanks, CVG.

I think that Aliens would work brillianly as a squad-based strategy game, perhaps a little like XCOM. AvP makes for great shooter material, but Aliens is all about being powerless in the face of an implacable force of primal nature, and FPS games always miss the point. Just imagine if we had control over a small squad with permanent losses, having to carefully assign overwatch and cover all sight lines against an enemy who can spring from anywhere. Awesome.

If you remember, Apone's squad were guided by the omniscient (if useless) Gorman through their helmet cameras. Perhaps players could assume that role?

Fingers crossed for something similar.

I just can't get excited for an aliens game anymore, can't remember the last time I played a good one. I agree that an Xcom style game could be good, the only negative for me would be that you wouldn't get a proper feel for the aliens' speed and agility when they're just stood their waiting for their turn.

I think a Penumbra style game could be interesting, perhaps playing as a resident of Hadleys Hope with very limited access to weaponry. Although then you don't get to hear the awesome Pulse Rifle sound. :P

This is poor timing to start slowly teasing a game based purely on the Aliens franchise. The Colonial Marines fiasco has tainted it too much. They really need to take a full on approach (as with AC4) - here's an in-game video, here's screenshots, here's details.
