Here's a little game that has never before graced the pages of Dealspwn, possibly because it's a bit rubbish. If Aliens Vs Predator has left you thirsting for more Alien shooting action action and you don't care about the quality then the miniature price tag attached to Alien Syndrome may be enough to make it an attractive prospect. At £4.98, Power Play Direct are offering the game at £2.50 less than the next best competitor's price (£7.48 from Cool Shop), and giving you change from a fiver.
Alien Syndrome revisits the world created in 1987's original game of the same title. The action takes place twenty years after that of the previous titles in a future where interplanetary space travel is commonplace. When communication with a station on distant planet The Kronos is lost, Aileen Harding sets off to discover what happened and seek out her missing boyfriend Tom, kicking a whole lot of alien ass along the way.
The story is fairly flimsy and unlikely to capture your imagination. Meanwhile, the level design for this RPG shooter is fairly flat and uninspiring and the alien models are unimaginative and far too repetitive, meaning that there is little to hold your attention when the mediocre combat becomes tedious.
The fact that you can play through the campaign with up to three companions in co-op multiplayer as well as take on the solo mission adds some value to Alien Syndrome, which alone might justify spending a mere £5, if only you could be sure of finding three other people willing to part with their cash to buy a copy...
