SEGA have issued another Aliens: Colonial Marines 'concept to game' trailer that shows the heart of the alien hive gradually going from artwork to gameplay. Gearbox have been using genuine assets, props and original concept art from the film in an attempt to make a bona fide sequel, not just a tie-in.

Will Aliens: Colonial Marines be a stand-up fight or just another bug hunt? We'll find out on February 12th.

This could be amazing... this SHOULD be amazing... I so want this to be amazing... I have a feeling it's going to be balls though.

Yes indeed - fingers well and truly crossed for this one. The scripted hands-off developer walkthroughs we've seen have been quite impressive, but we're still not sure how well it plays.

Feel like wearing my prediction hat today, if nobody minds...

I'm extremely excited for Colonial Marines, but I don't think it'll be 'amazing' or 'balls'.

You'll give it an 8, Jon, praising its immersion, faithfulness to the source material and genuine tension, but pointing out that this is sometimes undermined by poor controls and slightly stilted combat. Also, the graphics will be good but with some frame rate issues.

Ok, I'm taking my hat off now.

Yukes out.

You can virtually guarantee anything but an eight, now, even if the score it warrants is an eight... :p

I'm looking forward to this game immensely - but I look forward to all Alien games (and I'm one of the select few who liked Alien vs Predator on the xbox360).
To be honest, though, I'm hoping the Wii U version urinates all over the other console versions.
Almost certainly won't persuade me to buy a U, to be honest - but the prospect of using the gamepad as a motion tracker has caught my imagination like no other U game has.

Yeah, the best use of the U tab by miles... assuming it works well. Just a shame the Wii U GFX wouldn't be a touch on the PCs (or maybe just a shame I am bothered by such things!).

@Yukes: Heh, it's getting a 7 now... I mean, preconceptions are bad, mmmkay?

In all seriousness now, If I do review it (it might not be me), I tend to prioritise gameplay and mechanics. It will be interesting to see whether ACM works as both a videogame and a sightseeing tour.

@ /0: "maybe just a shame I am bothered by such things!"
Not in this case, since GFX (especially lighting) and sound design will be absolutely key to creating the classic Aliens atmosphere.
