It isn’t the cheapest we’ve seen it fall to, but GAME have unleashed a deal that brings Obsidian’s espionage RPG down to less than the price of a pint. Perhaps more importantly, a saving of £6 over the next cheapest retailer with any stock currently exists, which in this case is Base and its affiliates.
It may have promised the action of Bourne, Bond & Bauer at its release but Alpha Protocol was a commercial flop when it finally hit. Graphical bugs and poor gunplay ensured that Obsidian Entertainment’s foray into espionage would be a short one. It's such a shame, as the customisation options available as you crafted your spy were fairly impressive and the storyline was an entertaining one, and definitely worth more than £2. ShopTo have reverted to their outrageously silly £1.85 price tag for Alpha Protocol, Obsidian's espionage RPG. I'd thoroughly recommend you try it out - because its outstanding storyline (especially the way it's delivered) changes each time and provides scope for markedly different playthroughs. Tou'll have a miserable time if you play it as a standard third person shooter, ... but embracing its stealth and pistol mechanics lead to a wondrously refreshing sneaky experience. Look, for £1.85, you've got to try out this divisive little gem and make your own informed decision.
If you're not that fussed about having a physical copy of a game in your hands and you're happy to part with a tiny bit of money to download them from a legitimate source, then why not grab a PC copy of Alpha Protocol from ShopTo for £1.85 and save yourself £3 on the next best offer coming in from Simply Games. The stealth sections of the game are great fun and you're more than likely to play through it a couple of times before you get bored with it. Thanks to MasterMandrill @ HUKD.
Ah, Alpha Protocol. As with many of Obsidian's games, it has some excellent ideas marred by some poor execution. As usual, the story and customisation are fittingly engrossing and deep respectively, but technical glitches, bugs and some pretty ratty combat don't do the game any favours. Definitely worth checking out for a quid-fifty though. Instead of buying extra onion rings with your kebab this weekend, buy this instead for the same price.
The deal is only running a little while longer though, so be quick!
If you're looking for a great stealth game, but you don't fancy forking out full price for Deus Ex: Human Revolution, then Alpha Protocol's not a bad choice because whilst it might not be the most polished of games, it's can be pretty good fun at times. Sadly, the gun fights aren't particularly satisfying, the graphics can be a bit of a let down at times, and the boss battles are about as repetitive as you can get. Still it's hard to say no to this one when Choices UK are parting with Xbox 360 copies of the game for £3.99, which'll save you £4 on the next best offer coming in from Bee. Thanks to SPAMDOG @ HUKD.
