Is Amalur better than Skyrim?

Really didn't get on with Skyrim, all the bugs, shoddy combat, dubious graphics...might Amalur be better...?

It isn't better, rather, it's different.

You can't really compare the two - Skyrim is a sweeping narrative loom that lacks strong moment-to-moment gameplay, whereas Reckoning is all about the raw gameplay but doesn't offer a compelling game world to inhabit. They're very different kinds of RPG.

If you didn't like Skyrim's combat and bugs then Reckoning will suit you down to the ground. It's dynamic and thrilling, punching well above its weight into proper action game territory.

But while Skyrim will be remembered as a game for the ages, I'm not sure the same can be said of Reckoning.

I'd echo your last point Jon, there's been little to no promotion for Amalur over here, no special editions as they're exclusive to the US so EA and Big whatever can't have too much faith in it in Europe.

Secondly, after the game ends that's it. Unlike with the PC skyrim there's no construction kit or player mods which could potentially extend the game's life tenfold.

A shame really, big Rolston/Mcfarlane/Salvatore fan personally.
