"Alice In Otherland"
American McGee would very much like to make a new Alice game, so long as EA is willing to licence the rights to it. Instead of a AAA game, McGee will be pitching an online cooperative experience that lets Alice descend into user-generated worlds.
As reported by Joystiq, who caught up with Spicy Horse at GDC, the next Alice game won't be a big-budget platformer. "Probably a AAA title, as the previous two have been, is not the first priority of EA right now," explained co-founder RJ Berg. "We have to construct a very strong idea of how that presentation might run, but it's up to them to pick up on the opportunity."
Descring the pitch as "Alice In Otherland," McGee suggested that players will walk through virtual London and delve into the minds of passers-by. Some of these worlds will be player-created, across multiple platforms. "It's her invading the minds of other people and visiting their Wonderlands, and using what she's learned about her own mental landscape to go in and harm or heal the people she encounters. It means that the streets of London become the portals into 1,000, 10,000 amazing, different stories."
Spicy Horse is planning to meet with EA next week, following a tentative probe into whether gamers would like an Alice title. Let us know if you'd like one in the comments.
