We've got two Animal Crossing: New Leaf stories for your perusal courtesy of today's Nintendo Direct presentation. Not only has the sensational 3DS exclusive now spawned a Wii U app that lets you socialise and share with other villagers, but existing players can get a mate a free copy if they register a new 3DS XL.
First up: Animal Crossing Plaza is now available to download on the Wii U eShop, which "allows Animal Crossing fans from around the world to meet, interact and exchange information through the Animal Crossing Miiverse community." Players can import images they took in Animal Crossing: New Leaf on Nintendo 3DS as well as custom design QR Code patterns from their SD Cards, and organise them into albums to post on MiiVerse.
Custom designs can be converted into QR Codes and directly imported into the 3DS game, which is a nice touch. Beyond that, players can mill around in the virtual plaza area, interact with each other and some familiar faces. Without proper 3DS MiiVerse implementation, it's a bit of a faff to transfer SD cards, but I daresay that Animal Crossing fans will get a kick out of the Plaza. I'd try it out, but a squirrel is popping round to tea and I have to sort out my feng shui.
In more deal-tastic news, Nintendo announced the Animal Crossing: New Leaf: Welcome a Friend Promotion. Starting today, if you register Animal Crossing: New Leaf with Club Nintendo by 7th September, you’ll be able to receive a Recommendation Code. You can then give this Recommendation Code to a friend. If your friend registers a Nintendo 3DS XL before October 7th , and enters this Recommendation Code, they'll be able to claim a free Download Code for Animal Crossing: New Leaf on the eShop 3DS. Sounds simple, and is probably worth doing considering the wealth of quality software on offer.
