Arcen Games (A Valley Without Wind, AI War) has formally revealed Shattered Haven, a "Top-Down, 2D, Action-Adventure, Mildly-Rougelikeish Game." Keeping within a single genre has frequently been difficult for the experienced indie studio - which is a strength, not a weakness - but this latest project is set to be more moody and atmospheric than their usual fare. We've got a trailer and details below.
Set in a world enveloped by the roaming Grays and various other violent creatures, players will have to rely on resourcefulness and quick-thinking to solve puzzles in frantic environments. Utilize tools, traps, and weapons to clear all of the surrounding Grays across each of the 100+ hand-crafted levels.
Along with a main campaign filled with twists and multiple endings, the game will also include dozens (if not hundreds) of bonus levels to play, a level editor, and more.
More details will be forthcoming over the following week, since Arcen are exhibiting at PAX and a beta is set for September. We'll keep our ears to the ground ahead of Shattered Haven's PC release later this year.
