I'd expect Daedric armor would be right up there

Light armour is just a type of armour. You can get Heavy too. If you go through some of the questlines you can pick up some amazing stuff, or craft your own with blacksmithing. If you're sticking to light armour keep going through the Thieves Guild questline in Riften.

If you're going light armor then Dragonscale armor is quite tasty. If you get your smithing up to 100 (really easy by just turning pelt into leather / strips and making loads of leather bracers), you can eventually unlock the Dragonscale perk, so improving it becomes possible.

I'm currently using Nightingale Armor which is really good and lots of added bonuses in there. Do the Thieves Guild quests to get it.

I like the nightingale armour too, the dark brotherhood armour isn't bad either. Some of the dragon priest masks are good too.
