Assassin's Creed II Now Free For Xbox Live Gold Members

Just a quickie: As promised back at E3, Assassin's Creed II is now free to download for Xbox Live Gold members as part of the Games With Gold promotion. I daresay most of you already own it, but on the offchance, you might as well browse over and get it.

Games With Gold was revealed as competition for PlayStation Plus, but raised eyebrows by only offering Defense Grid instead of Assassin's Creed II and Halo 3.

I hope that both people who don't already have the game see this offer. Is it prominent on the dash?

@Late: Not yet. In fact, it's not featured at all as of 14:08, though the offer is definitely live on the marketplace.

I assume that MS will update the dash later today, once America wakes up. Currently it's not even the "free for gold" section.

It's front and center on xbox.com, at least

For sure - I'd recommend hitting the link above and queueing up the download in-browser. Saves messing about with Metro.

I presume they're going to fix the ability to download these without having a credit card/payment method registered, because for now you have to select to pay by MS points to download it. After August 1st that won't be an option.

You'd hope that's something that the beta participants would pick up on

I nearly typed "I'm sure Microsoft know what they're doing" for a moment there, but couldn't quite keep a straight face...
