New Assassin's Creed III Screenshots Emerge

Poor Ubisoft. Trying to spring a surprise these days must be absolute hell when there are so many grubby journalists, ourselves included, eager to dig up anything and everything ahead of schedule.

But the game's pretty much up. Assassin's Creed III will be set in revolutionary America, have a part-Native American protagonist, and feature lots and lots of British-bashing. In more ways than one. Oh, and there are four new screenshots for you to check out. One is above, the rest are after the jump.

We'll be discussing this in Sunday's PWNCAST, ruminating on the period's potential for gameplay changes, the lack of tall buildings, the forgettable locales, and moaning about how we never got any of that tea back.

As a Brit-run site, we rather hope that Benedict Arnold is a playable character in the multiplayer, and that, as Jon put it earlier, the final boss is George III, who turns out to be an alien, and attack us with hot cups of tea. And a crumpet cannon. [AGB]

Should be an interesting change of style for the AC games, I always felt pumping out more of Ezio was a mistake and that they should have pushed forward in time again. I can seriously see there being 5 or 6 of these before we actually get to the end of the series and Desmond becomes a modern day master assassin.. (we assume..) Maybe we'll yet get a world war 2 version creeping around Nazi occupied france picking off SS Templars and trying to recover the piece of Eden Hitler was given while Berlin burns around you

Just give us a Victorian London AC at some point and I'll be happy...

Yep, Victorian London would make an awesome AC environment, especially around the City: America in in the period they've chosen - was there that much even there?

To be honest, at this point anyway, I would have preferred the Chinese scenario that played out in AC Embers. There's plenty of places I would have preferred over Revolutionary America, Cold War Berlin,Hong Kong during the Opium Wars, Colonial India or even Japanese-Occupied Seoul/Singapore/Taipei to name just a few!
