We love mashups. There's nothing better than when two gaming powerhouses come together in an enormous, creative, virtual bear hug that yields an astonishingly daring mutant offspring that threatens to shake the industry...or, you know, is just really fun. Anyway, Nintendo and Atlus are teaming up to deliver a prospect that has us salivating with anticipation.
A new Wii U game is coming that combines the universes of Shin Megami Tensei and Fire Emblem. KAPOW!
"Because the scope of game development for each title is getting larger and larger, we cannot prepare enough titles for Wii U using the same approaches we have taken in the past," said Nintendo's Satoru Iwata. "This collaboration with Atlus is an example of one of our new approaches.
"We are working with many more partners on additional collaborations as well. I will discuss those projects in future Nintendo Directs or at other opportunities. Please look forward to hearing about them."
After alienating swathes of third party developers over the years, we're glad to see Nintendo not only making friends again from a publishing standpoint, but seeing them collaborate creatively with other studios. Let's just hope this one makes it out of Japan in good time!
