Awesome New Mass Effect 3 Details Emerge, Spoilers Abound

A veritable deluge of new Mass Effect 3 info has emerged thanks to those eagle-eyed scourers of the intertubes over at NeoGAF, who noticed a post over on the BioWare social forums summarising some of the juicy tidbits from Xbox World's latest feature on the upcoming game.

WARNING: Be advised, there are some pretty LARGE SPOILERS after the jump, particularly towards the bottom.

Weapon customisation has been beefed up, with up to five areas of modification available at workbenches, class-specific actions will evolve more than once and powers can be combined - giving the example of the Soldier marrying Concussive Shot with Cryo Ammo.

The AI has reportedly been tuned up, with enemies capable of doing 'everything that Shepard can do'.

'We really want to make mobility a factor that plays into combat,' said Lead Gameplay Designer Christina Norman. 'You'll always ask yourself, 'am I in the right position on the battlefield? Where are my enemies? How am I going to get from point A to point B?' Players should never be walking tino these safe places with great cover and stay there for the whole fight.  It's about how you're going to move through the battlefield as the enemies move through the battlefield and how they're reacting to one another and to you.'

Thankfully, Shepard can now do a camo roll, so that should be fine.

BioWare have also reacted to feedback regarding level design, acknowledging that seeing a room stuffed with low cover and crates neatly and conveniently arrayed before you telegraphs imminent battles rather too nicely.

'You could always tell when a fight was coming" says Casey Hudson about Mass Effect 2. '[...] So now we're building environments that don't have crates and sandbags and that kind of cover; we have environments that have natural opportunities to take cover.  And it helps that Shepard can climb and fall and SWAT turn and leaps across gaps and stuff like that.  It allows you to look around your environment and solve problems in that space and makes combat less predictable.'

And here come some SUPER SPOILERS, so beware....

.... Hudson also revealed that all of the main characters from Mass Effect will be making a return, provided you kept them alive. Shepard's return to the Alliance has pissed off Cerberus, who themselves are working alongside the Reapers. Why? We have no idea just yet.

One thing we do know, though, is that there's to be a boss fight with a 600-foot Reaper...oh, and Shepard will be able to pilot a 50-foot Cerberus Atlas mech, which sounds awesome! Check out the source links for the full picture. [BioWare Social Forums via NeoGAF]
