Band Hero (Game Only) £9.98 @ The Game Group [Xbox 360 & PS3 games]

If you've already got the music controllers from Guitar Hero and Rock Band, then why not expand your repertoire of songs by picking up a stand alone copy of Band Hero.

The Game Group are currently selling copies of Band Hero (Game only) on the PS3 and the Xbox 360 for £9.98, which is a saving of exactly £3 on the next best price of £12.98 from amazon.

We've all been in the situation where a couple of friends have dropped round, its turned into a lazy afternoon on the sofa, and we've decided to pick up our controllers and chill out playing computer games. But what to play? Well, if you're bored of first person shooters, Mario Kart, and Wii Sports, its almost inevitable that you'll turn to one of the many band orientated music games on the market.

Unlike Guitar Hero and Rock Band, Band Hero caters for pop fans a little bit more, which is a bit of a double edged sword; on the one hand, it'll appeal to a completely different group of music fans, but it'll also drive away hardcore rock fans.

The format of the game is almost exactly the same as Guitar Hero and Rock Band, with the familiar coloured notes descending down the screen to the point you need to hit them. Gamers can chose to play guitar, bass, drums, or sing, and can either go it alone from there or join up with friends to form a virtual music group. The career mode is a little bit disappointing as you're just playing through numerous set lists, and it doesn't really feel like you're struggling up the steep ladder of the music industry.

As with its predecessors Band Hero is best enjoyed when played with friends and family, and should keep everybody thoroughly entertained throughout.
