Batman: Arkham Asylum Game of The Year edition £16.14 @ The Hut [Xbox 360 Games]

In what could very well be the best comic book adaptation to hit the gaming world, you get to stalk your enemies from the shadows whilst trying to overcome the Joker's evil plans as The Dark Knight.

NB: You'll need to use the following code to get the game at the advertised price: 10GAMES

This version of Arkham Asylum provides you with six extra challenge maps, and the option of playing the game in 3D with the help of Trioviz 3D vision and two pairs of 3D glasses, which has got to be the best thing about getting a copy of the GOTY edition. The Hut are currently parting with copies for the amazingly low price of £16.14, which is almost £2 cheaper than the next best offer of £17.89 at Sendit.

The story behind Arkham Asylum is thoroughly engrossing and keeps you on your toes throughout, with a nice blend of explosive action and what seems like a never-ending list of references to the comics that really help to immerse you in Batman's world. Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill lead the voice cast and are both outstanding as Batman and The Joker respectively, which is to be expected when you look back at the exceptional quality of their previous work on Batman: The Animated Series.

The gameplay is a wonderful mix of stealth take downs where your aim is to create fear among your enemies causing them to separate themselves from groups at which point Batman can effortlessly dispatch them, and brutal hand to hand combat.

The 3D aspect to the GOTY edition is surprisingly good, and I found it really helped to improve the depth of the image and my ability to judge distances between characters in relation to themselves and the environment.

Personally, I would have preferred to slip into the shadows of Gotham city and found it incredibly frustrating that you couldn't drive the Batmobile or Batwing, but these are the only downsides that I could find to an otherwise fantastic game.

If you've not played Arkham Asylum yet, I'd recommend that you purchase a copy as soon as possible, as it really puts you into Batman's shoes and provides you with an experience that you'll want to go back and enjoy again and again.
