Battlefield 3 Rent A Server Trailer

Battlefield 3's massive latest patch has finally made its way to the Xbox 360 today, and with it, the promised 'Rent A Server' functionality that allows console owners to temporarily buy access to their own dedicated servers. Private, public, ranked or unranked matches can be set up and tweaked to your own specifications, all while removing any hint of host advantage/disadvantage or lag.

We've got a trailer after the break.

So now I understand why they left this feature out from BF3 so they can charge us £££££££££ instead of having it free like in BFBC 2. Fuc*ing joke! EA should be ashamed.

This is shocking, Not only do you have to buy the game and the online pass if its a second hand copy but now your getting charged for the right to play on a half decent server, I can see EA reducing the amount of public servers so that you'll need to buy your own to play.

PC gaming has had rental servers for years. If you want your own clan server it's best to get one. But if you just want to play, even with mates, then there is absolutely no need.

If you find it shocking I think you are missing the point.

The addition of rental servers is a good thing. Whether you rent one or not, it will mean more custom servers out there. Server support is not really a console thing at the moment and it is much better for things to go this way than the other... like with CoD NOT supporting servers properly on PC!

Servers give you such a better game experience. The lack of server support for ranked matches ruined MW2 and MW3 on the PC.

Why should you have to rent a server to have custom matches I never did this when I played COD:WAW all you did was set out all the things you wanted and away you went, I don't play PC games so can't comment on wether its better or not but I just think this is another way of sapping more money from the poor gamers, Like with COD:Elite and all the new map packs that are constantly being brought out at 1200MS points every time, It may mean better choice of games but I don't agree with some of the prices we need to pay after we have supported the companies by buying their games.
