Battlefield 4 Might Bring Back Commander Mode

Then again, it might not

According to a laughably cropped, awfully mocked-up pre-order advertisement found in GameStop, Battlefield 4 will have three playable factions and bring back the Commander mode from Battlefield 2.

The clip below emerged from YouTuber Luger700 (via MP1st) who says that he saw the pre-order ads in two separate GameStop locations. The ad lists four rather interesting things:

  • Frostbite 3: Destructible environments and buildings!
  • 3 playable factions – Russia, China and United States
  • All our war! Vehicle combat and “Commander Mode” returns
  • Get access to the first expansion for FREE with reservation. $10 dollar value!

Now, we know that it looks hilariously unofficial, and it certainly wouldn't have come from EA, so the ads themselves must have come from GameStop. Given that false advertising is a highly litigious minefield, and that the source has put the contact details for the stores up online, we rather reckon that it's legit... but only insofar as a GameStop employee might be sneakily gunning for extra pre-orders. DLC packs for BF3 have been priced at $15 for one thing.

In any case, we've emailed EA for comment. Would you like to see Commander mode return?
