Whatever your opinion on which is superior out of Modern Warfare 2 and Bad Company 2, it’s great to see Infinity Ward’s ground-breaking first person shooter up against some serious competition. And even the biggest COD head won’t fail to find something truly thrilling about DICE’s dynamic and destructive brand of modern combat. Bad Company 2 sees the player waging war across a diverse range of exotic and contrasting rural and urban environments, whose destructibility gives the impression of a believable warzone. Utilizing what the BC designers refer to as ‘destruction 2.0’, the game allows you to destroy everything from trees, vehicles, and barricades to walls, bridges and – unlike its predecessor – even entire buildings.

The game is also notable for its humorous script, which gives your virtual companions a bit more depth than the practically anonymous allies of most other FPS titles. However, as this is Battlefield, the meat of the gameplay is to be found online – although the game does have a decent sized single player campaign. Game modes include RUSH, which splits players up into attacking and defending groups; Conquest, where players must strive to hold three strategic locations; and the more traditional and self-explanatory Squad-Death Match mode. All in all, BC2 is an intense, exciting and extremely satisfying title which, like MW2, should be part of every FPS fans collection.
