After their recent sub £30 deal for the PS3 version (which has now expired), it's the XBox 360 version of Bad Company 2's turn to bask in the light of Shop To's Weekly Special, with a price tag of just £29.99. This knocks nearly £5 off Cool Shop's runner up price of £34.49.
The first instalment of Bad Company garnered a wealth of praise and critical fawning thanks to its great sense of humour and anarchic, joyous disregard for the sanctity of personal property. Luckily this new addition to the series builds upon the successes of its predecessor and delivers a sequel which is even more satisfying and enjoyable. Bad Company 2 is a tauter, more focused outing into the deep wilds of Bolivia which nonetheless does not scrimp on offering players the chance to f**k s**t up in the manner to which they are accustomed.
The single player campaign is extremely fun, taking place in beautiful, nicely realised environments which are populated with interesting, witty characters. Great though this mode is, it is not perfect, especially considering you are only likely to clock up around six hours before you are all done, and it is the online multiplayer which really shines and helps Bad Company 2 to stand itself apart from the competition. Taking place over massive maps, filled with powerful, well designed vehicles, in which virtually everything is wonderfully, delightfully destructible, there is no way you can play this and not have a total blast.
