We shed a tear for Bizarre Creations when they shut up shop last Friday- but we predicted that there'll be a frenzy of corporate courting now each individual staffer can be snaffled up independently. It seems that the first ex-Bizarre developer has already found a home at another studio famed for its racing games.
Design Manager Gareth Wilson has joined SEGA's Sumo Digital studio (the veteran outfit behind Sega All-Stars Racing, F1 2009's Wii version and Outrun Online Arcade) as their Chief Games Designer. Considering that Wilson oversaw the Project Gotham Racing franchise and Blur as a design lead, this is an immense move that should benefit both parties immeasurably. Perhaps it's time for a stylish new Outrun? [CVG]
It won't be long before the rest of the Bizarre crew find new placements, and we wish them the very best of luck in their future endeavours. Naturally we'll also keep tabs on where they end up.
Why not join us in saying a personal goodbye to Bizarre Creations in our recent retrospective?
