Bethesda Warns Xbox 360 Owners Not To Install Doom 3: BFG Edition

If you're planning on buying the Doom 3: BFG Edition on Xbox 360 this Friday, don't install it to the hard drive. Bethesda has warned Shack News that "there is no performance advantage to installing the game to your hard drive," and worse, doing so will lock you out of the original versions of Doom and Doom 2.

No, we don't know why either.

That didn't stop them from pressing it to XGD3 though so most phat 360's will sound like a rocket launch for the entire time that you're playing through this game.

your clearly speaking from the perspective of someone who pirates games, because the common user doesn't give a rats &&& about the XGD3 stuff.

No, I'm speaking from the perspective of someone who has to install most games to my 360's HDD now to prevent system noise where as older XGD2 games didn't suffer from that problem as much.

Ahh, let me guess Gears of War 3 was one of these formats right? I thought my xbox was starting to die when I first put that disc in.

Yeah Gears 3 was one of the first I think.
