Epic producer Rod Fergusson has spilled the beans about a major Gears 3 announcement that's set for later today. Ties in nicely with Major Nelson's earlier promise of several big game reveals, no?
UPDATE: Microsoft's Graeme Boyd has tweeted that Gears Of War 3 will release on 20th September worldwide. It's possible that this is the major announcement in question, but we'll keep an eye on the situation.
Late last night (American time), Fergusson tweeted the following missive:
It doesn't get much clearer than that- and factoring in the time difference, we're basically on for a reveal today. This gels with Monday's coy comments from Microsoft PR Larry Hyrb, who suggested that a pre-GDC press conference would play host to a slew of big reveals that would make Xbox fans "really happy." Which just happens to be today.
We're all over it. We assume that it'll probably be a firm release date and the shiny new trailer that was yanked from the VGAs, but there's a small possibility that the rumoured Gears Of War: Exile might also make an appearance. Watch this space.
So, why should you be excited about Gears of War 3? Because it'll have a kickass singleplayer campaign, an innovate new multiplayer gametype, dedicated servers and more gory locust murder than you can shake a Lancer at.
