Missed out on the HMV deal for BlazBlue Lydia posted up a few days back? Fret not, for ShopTo have just dropped their PS3 price to £14.85. Although not much cheaper than the currently out of stock HMV listing, this price will save you over £2 on Tesco's nearest offer.
It was telling that, in a year where Street Fighter IV dominated most of our domestic games media headlines when it came to fighting games, overseas media were championing an old-school 2D, tactic-heavy fighter. So when BlazBlue finally made it over here, we got very excited indeed.
Eschewing hand-to-hand for Soul Cal-esque weapons, this is a worthy competitor for 2009's fighting crown. Stubbornly retro in many ways, its 2D engine dripping with gorgeous presentation and some finely detailed character models, BlazBlue still manages to find a place on our shelves thanks to its frenetic and furious gameplay, its two-tone defensive mechanics and a roster that, whilst pretty darn small, features such wildly unique and distinctive characters and fighting styles that you won't really mind.
Of course, as with all fighting games, multiplayer is where the action is really at, and BlazBlue's doesn't let us down, easy to navigate, matchmaking is swift and painless and the replay function allows you to witness your moments of violent glory again and again and again.
