What Does This Mean For Diablo III On Consoles?
Following on from our post yesterday regarding the Playstation 3 / 4 versions of Diablo III, word has emerged today that the upcoming console version of the ARPG will be a complete separate entity from the PC version, with Battle.net accounts not used at all. Blizzard community manager Vaefire took to the official forums to state that as it stands, no cross-platform play is in the works.
While we think cross-platform play would be awesome, there are currently no plans to allow connectivity between PlayStation Network and Battle.net (this is pretty standard for most games that have PC and console support). As a result, the characters on your Battle.net account and PlayStation account will also remain separate.
They then goes on to mention that at the time of writing, there are no plans to provide controller control support for the PC version, or mouse / keyboard for the upcoming console version.
So what could this ultimately mean? Well, no importing your existing PC characters to continue in your living room for one, which will put off anyone with the PC version from buying it again, but this could also signify that there will be a completely separate Auction House, or perhaps none what-so-ever. At this stage it’s all speculation until we get more details, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted on any developments as we hear them.
