Borderlands 2 Bug Resets Badass Ranks

Gearbox: "Our Engineers Are Looking Into This"

Borderlands 2 is currently the top dog on gaming campus, but many gamers are reporting a nasty little bug that's spoiling one of the game's most compelling features.

The Gearbox forums are currently awash with reports from players who booted up Borderlands 2 only to discover that their Badass Ranks have been reset to zero, along with any and all permanent bonuses and unlocked skins. Gallingly, upgrade tokens haven't been refunded and accomplished challenges are still marked as complete - meaning that there's currently no way of recouping those lost ranks.

Borderlands 2 player RyogaWanderer has posted a video to illustrate the problem.

So far, there doesn't seem to be any repeatable pattern or explanation for the phenomenon bar potential save file corruption, but Gearbox are looking into the issue.

"Our engineers are looking into this, and the information you've provided has proven to be a great resource while we investigate," a Gearbox spokesperson told Game Informer. "At the moment, it seems to be a fairly rare issue and we'll keep you updated on when we resolve it."

Our own Borderlands 2 review will be going live in the near future (our promotional copy unhelpfully arrived less than a day before street date), but in the meantime, let us know what you make of the experience. And, just as importantly, have you been affected by this bug?

Bug no.. Experience.. It's more of Bordlands 1 really.

The in game menu's are horrible, yes at least we can use the mouse to use them but they have been designed to look pretty and not be at all functional. Badass Ranks.. i didn't even realise this existed until I was level 10 or so.

In a game that is designed to drop a metric ton of weapons, shields, etc. It feels very backwards to have very limited bag space and be limited to two weapon slots (From the start).

When I play Borderlands 2 I feel like I have played the game before. This is just an extension on Borderlands 1.
