Brink Features Over One Hundred Quadrillion Unique Characters

Brink is only weeks away from release now, and we're all pretty excited for Splash Damage's ambitious take on the stagnating FPS genre. And to whet fans' appetites before launch, publisher Bethesda has offloaded a colossal chunk of in-game facts and date for us to analyze. For instance, did you know Brink features 45 unique ways to die? Or that it has exactly an hours worth of music?

As well as all that, Brink also houses over 102 quadrillion unique character variants. 102 quadrillion! While it might simply seem like showboating an impossibly big number, it's sure to bode well for the Brink community, with Splash Damage hoping fans establish and connect with a proper online persona. By reducing the risk of similar identities occurring, they're taking a major step towards achieving this.

The full list is as follows:

  • Number of ways to die – 45
  • Lines of dialogue – 26,000
  • Individual weapon sounds – 4,500
  • Voice Packs – 8
  • Minutes of Music – 60
  • Weapon/attachment combinations (not counting Resistance variations or pre-order content) – 4963
  • Unique Security Characters (not counting minor tint variations or body types) – 4,530,240
  • Unique Security Characters (not counting minor tint variations but including body types) – 13,590,720
  • Unique Security Characters (including minor tint variations, but not body types) – 15,775,119,360,000,000
  • Unique Security Characters (including minor tint variations and body types)- 47,325,358,080,000,000
  • Unique Resistance Characters (not counting minor tint variations or body types) – 4,530,240
  • Unique Resistance Characters (not counting minor tint variations but including body types) – 13,590,720
  • Unique Resistance Characters (including minor tint variations, but not body types) – 18,307,441,152,000,000
  • Unique Resistance Characters (including minor tint variations and body types) – 54,922,323,456,000,000
  • Total Unique Characters (including minor tint variations and body types – 102,247,681,536,000,000

While it's all pretty insignificant without the final game to pass judgement on, we're pretty confident in Brink at least breathing a little life into shooters, whilst not necessarily blowing us all away. Set aboard a floating metropolis, you choose from a variety of classes and must solve objective-driven tasks with either AI controlled allies or a couple of online pals. It also features an innovative traversal system, where a quick press of a button allows you to vault over cover, mantle up to lofty reaches or slide under objects, depending on the context.
