Brutal Legend is a short but very enjoyable love letter to all things heavy metal and Tim Schafer's first tentative dip of his toe into the mainstream.

Brutal Legend is the tale of one roadie's trip through Hell after he inadvertantly drips blood onto his magical cursed belt buckle. In this nightmarish reality he finds friends and foes of a very rock n roll nature, with cameo appearances from the voices of Lita Ford, Rob Halford, Lemmy and even Ozzy Obsborne. In fact the whole game drips with musical authenticity from its very "trOO" soundtrack to its album cover-inspired artwork.
The story is very entertaining and the characters are brilliant and rendered in a striking and pleasing visual style. The combat is particularly fun and feels great; there is something very satisfying about cutting through swathes of enemies with an axe before seeing off a further horde with a n epic riff from your other kind of axe. If you are a heavy metal fan then Brutal Legend really is a must have and those who are laymen to the world of rock should also have a great time with this. If only it wasn't so short...
