After months of rumours and leaks, Bungie is finally ready to officially blow the lid off Destiny, which aims to provide "a universe as deep, tangible and relatable as that of the Star Wars franchise."
Bungie confirmed the reveal date on their Facebook page, stating that "you can be the first to see the reveal of Destiny right here on Feb. 17 (T-Minus 5 days)." A new teaser site, Twitter feed and Google+ page have been set up to preface the announcement.
If a leaked design document is to be believed, Destiny will offer players a "social" FPS experience set in the ruins of mankind's golden age, where the last city on Earth struggles to survive against "strange, alien monsters from the edge of the universe." An enormous ship known as The Traveller looms overhead, as players cooperate to venture forth into the wastes below.
As much as anything, we eagerly await news of Destiny's release platforms (which will likely favour Microsoft's console/s first due to Activision's special relationship with the Xbox brand). We'll bring you all the news as it happens.
