Burnout CRASH, the downloadable top-down spin off that focuses on ridiculous crashes and "lobster monsters," has been confirmed for an August 2011 release despite originally being slated for the Autumn. We've got the full story and a new trailer after the break, as well as a couple of new details about Criterion's first PSN and XBLA title.
CRASH! is based on the popular crash mode featured in previous Burnout games; using a top-down perspective to offer players the chance to wreck stuff up for points and sheer cathartic . Autolog will let players compete for the most ridiclous amounts of destruction, and Kinect support for the XBLA version will apparently provide some single-screen party game modes. EA have officially confirmed the title for August 2011, though interestingly, the press release manages to contradict itself in the very first sentence.
Burnout CRASH! is a crazy mix of pinball and game shows. We’ve evolved the core gameplay which everyone loved about Crash Mode, and expanded the whole experience using music, style and Autolog to create what we feel is the most mindless fun you can have on any gaming platform. - Richard Franke, Creative Director
The jury's still out on that, Franke, but why not take a look at the trailer while you're waiting for our full review?
