The Buzz! series of interactive quiz games, which became such a popular pastime for drunken students at their Union bars, has now been re-launched with a Brit style makeover. Currently, you can get hold of the latest addition to the franchise, Buzz! Brain of the UK, for £10.99 on Gameplay.
This is currently the cheapest deal available. Although Play.com did have a short lived offer where it was going for £9.99, according to price comparison, the next best deal is currently on Game where it will set you back £12.99.
The idea behind Buzz! Brain of the UK is relatively simple, and involves players buzzing in, via a wireless controller, to answer various questions on pop culture trivia. The first edition, simply titled Buzz!, which came out on the PS2 several years ago, gained huge popularity: gaining top places in gaming charts week after week and spawning a host of follow ups.
With Brain of the UK, the Buzz! format remains unchanged, however its 4000 questions - which range from categories on sport, to wildlife, to TV etc – are now specifically British themed. The host – Buzz – is even sporting a union jack suit, and the game features a range of appallingly voiced regional accents. Although some customers found this annoying, a few argued that they were actually one of the funniest parts of the game.
The questions can be a little inconsistent however, and occasionally stem into areas which have nothing to do with Britain – like Dutch DJs and the Grand Canyon (!?). However for fans of the previous Buzz! games who already own buzzers (apparently the PS2 buzzers are compatible with the PS3) this is definitely a good deal. But if you’re looking to purchase these additionally, you’d be better off looking for a combined package.
