Sledgehammer Games have revealed the first image of their debut Call Of Duty title, which is due out this Christmas.
IGN exclusively loosed the slide onto the net, which was originally shown during a GDC panel entitled 'Quest for Quality.' It's a close-up of an in-game character model designed to show off the level of visual fidelity that the team is shooting for on next-gen consoles and PC.
Take a look at it below.
It's certainly very shiny, but Sledgehammer's first Call Of Duty game will need more than just impressive visuals to wow us when the holiday season rolls around. We strongly feel that the franchise needs to innovate with some new ideas - perhaps an imaginative setting, a tactical metagame or stealth mechanics - or take an alternative tack by pulling back the bloated level of spectacle to make an intimate and grounded FPS experience that's more in like with the original Modern Warfare. This is Sledgehammer's big chance, so fingers crossed that it's more than a 'me-too' iteration. Don't get me wrong, though, slick visuals can't hurt.
