The DS receives a Call of Duty installment in today’s news roundup. While in other news a Batman: Arkham Asylum demo will be available this Friday, the Sims 3 will be receiving an expansion pack in November, and more reason to believe the PS3 Slim will be eventually receiving confirmation.

Activision has recently announced a Nintendo DS Call of Duty spinoff title. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Mobilized will include a six-player online multiplayer mode, as well as a survival mode similar to the horde mode featured in Gears of War 2.

Likely to be in similar style to previous Call of Duty DS installment, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Mobilized will be hitting the shops on November 10th, same time as Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. [1UP]

Batman Demo Out This Friday

Batman: Arkham Asylum may not be out until August 28th here in Europe, but gamers have the oppourtunity to try the game as of this Friday. Eidos interactive announced the Batman: Arkham Asylum demo will be hitting the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on August 7th, demonstrating the games “FreeFlow” combat system, and Batman’s stealth abilities.  [1UP]

The Sims 3 to Receive World Travelling Expansion Pack

EA have announced the first Sims 3 original expansion pack, titled The Sims 3 World Adventures, with a worldwide release planned for November 16th. The Sims will be exploring the world, travelling through fictional Sim cities in France, Egypt and China, learning new skills along the way. Aside from a PC launch, EA hope to release the expansion pack on the iPhone and iPod Touch.  [GameSpot]

80GB PS3 Model Withdrawn From Retailer In Japan

Following the discontinuation of the 20GB, 40GB and 60GB models of the PS3 in Japan, the 80GB model looks set to be next. A notice from retailer 7-Eleven has stated pre-orders for the black, white and silver 80GB PS3 will stop this Sunday at 10am, citing “the manufacturer” as the reason. Yet more reason to suspect the inevitable PS3 Slim announcement, or at the very least the replacement of the 80GB model with the previously unreleased in Japan 160GB model.  [Kotaku]
