Call of Duty: Ghosts Free Fall Map is a GAME Exclusive

"Look, We're Knocking Down Skyscrapers Too!"

That's what this trailer for the Free Fall pre-order DLC incentive seems to be shouting, as Activision try to muscle in on Battlefield 4's key multiplayer feature, massively changing environments in multiplayer maps. To be fair, Call of Duty: Ghosts' new map looks like a hell of a lot of fun too.

Infinity Ward's Mark Rubin, is pretty excited about the new map: "It [the new map] introduces our new mechanic, dynamic maps - this idea of bringing that sort of cinematic single player experience to multiplayer. You're playing in a building that is falling over and is wedged between two other buildings. The floor you're on is actually the glass windows from the side of the building so you see this world in a very topsy-turvy sense as it's plummeting down to the streets below."

The pre-order map will be available from multiple outlets in the US. European console gamers face a one-store exclusive policy in each territory though, with Game being the only option for UK gamers. Tease yourself with a trailer after the break and decide if you want to put your money with the big purple one.

It would appear it's more widely available on PC (Steam vendors particularly), but on consoles it seems to be a Game exclusive (for now).

Is this going to be a nuketown-2025 type affair... where it was actually exclusive for about 6 weeks then everyone got it anyway?

One could argue that it's not free if you have to pay Game's higher price.

On a loosely related topic I've just learned of the disparity between the "upgrade" programs on Sony's and Microsoft's machines.

Sony - upgrade for $9.99 no matter where you bought the game, how much you paid for it, nor whether it's physical or digital - and keep the ps3 version, so you have both. ps3 physical copies have a code allowing you to download the ps4 version for $9.99. (Note that you need to keep the ps3 disk for the ps4 version to work. No idea how that works.)

Microsoft - upgrade for $9.99 if you bought the game digitally, and you can keep it on both machines. In the UK Game are the only store with an official upgrade policy for physical copies, giving you £40 trade-in for your old copy when you upgrade - but only if you bought the xb360 version from them. For £45. And the xb1 version is currently £55. And you'll only have the xb1 version (which isn't really a problem for most folk, to be fair).

So assuming there's supermarket launch-day deals for about £30-£35 (which is fairly typical in recent years) you can end up with the game on ps3+ps4 for about £40, or you can end up with the game on xb1 for about £55...

Petty sure this is Game only for physical and other digital resellers can and are selling it.

However, the important question is will this be as s*** as MW3 was or have they quit thumbing their a***es and actually made some improvements to the awful engine, graphics, maps and general playability.

Ugh. Now I hear Ghosts' split-screen is limited to only two players (it's usually four.)

That's annoying. I was looking forward to playing it with the kids. :(
