Two major Japanese publishers are set to reveal a new title at the end of next week, and will be doing so by very different means. Capcom plans to invade Comic-Con with a new IP and some fresh DLC intel, while Namco Bandai have opted for the tried-and-tested mysterious countdown gambit. We have the full details - and some wild speculation - below.
First up is Namco Bandai, who have opened a new countdown site for an as-yet unannounced title. The timer is set to end this Thursday, and naturally we'll keep an eye on exactly what it is. NeoGAF's miladesn reckons that the publisher has recently trademarked "Northern Wings" and "Dark Escape," which could well be an interesting avenue of conjecture or a bizarre red herring. All we know is that Namco Bandai are rapidly diversifying their 2011-2012 lineup with a varied selection including Dark Souls, Ace Combat: Assault Horizon and EDF: Insect Armageddon, meaning that it's very difficult to suggest what they might be gunning for this time around. The Tokyo skyline could also be a clue, but otherwise, it's difficult to tell. A new Hello Kitty title, maybe?
In other news, Capcom will be headlining Friday's Comic-Con panel with "a new game reveal," as well as some "fantastic news" about Marvel vs Capcom 3. As with Namco Bandai, Capcom's lineup is too diverse to make a firm assessment, but the MvC3 announcement is likely to feature new DLC, characters or a revamped Arcade/Super re-release. We'll keep an eye on it.
