Challenge Carl | The Update - 04/06/14

Carl Phillips
Challenge Carl

Last week’s challenge was a true test of endurance – making it from one side of the biggest landmass in Just Cause 2 to the other without touching the ground. Mistakes were made – mainly due to hubris – but ultimately I made it across like a Techno Tarzan in glorious style. That’s 3-0, yo!

But then Matt & Jon had to come up with the most ridiculous idea possible by challenging me to make a Dealspwny RPG in a week. The swines.

Here’s the thing – it wasn’t quite stipulated WHEN the week was meant to began, and I have to be upfront with all of you who have been watching so far (and many thanks for sticking with it, by the way) – with E3 just around the corner, and the fact I’m handling our review for WildStar (a rather sizable MMO) I honestly don’t have the time to start it right now. It is already a very time-intensive series to produce, and so the executive decision has been made to publish Challenge Carl every fortnight. While I appreciate that may be a little disappointing, it will do wonders for my stress levels. Which is nice.

I’m hoping that I can begin with week-long countdown for the upcoming challenge from next week, because if I were to do it now I would realistically only have 24 hours which, as regular Zeipher sort of illustrated, would result in a 5 minute effort. Frankly, you’re all worth more than 5 minutes (allegedly) and so I’m going to postpone the challenge for time being. That said, I will post when I am starting the challenge for the sake of fairness, along with providing updates on how I’m getting on.

In the meantime, we’re still stockpiling your suggestions and sorting out a running order, so if you have any ideas for future Challenges be sure to post them in the comments. After all, you’re not going to let me remain undefeated, are you, meatbags?

Slightly saddened by the news this series will be delayed, but if it helps you out, then that's alright!

I just hope we get to play the game.

It's an unusual challenge, really... What's going to determine whether it's a pass or a fail? Maybe you should release the game for us visitors to review, and we have to review it with a score out of 10! So you'll need an average score of 5 or more to win :)

Carl, less sex, more editorial.

Nah, tis fair enough, mate - especially with such a dastardly challenge. I look forward to playing it. ;)
