Sony Expects Chinese Whisper Success For PS Move

From Shank's Kinks to Chinese Whispers - News Roundup 26th August 2010

The motion control wars are about to kick off. We've had the initial skirmishes at E3 and Gamescom, but Sony have predicted low day one sales of Playstation Move when it's released this coming September. UK managing director Ray Maguire expects that word of mouth will fuel and exponentally expand on a slow initial adoption.

"Move is a natural extension in the same way as we brought EyeToy to PS2. Exactly as with EyeToy in the PS2 days, it's a product that needs to be sampled. You need to get your hands on it. You need to understand it. You need to try it.

"Am I expecting a massive day one? Not particularly. We didn't with EyeToy, either. It went on to be massively successful."

Personally, I think that he's right on the money. It's difficult to describe motion control using words or even video- and both Move and Kinect will start to sell much faster once y'all have been able to have a go yourselves. [Gamesindustry]

The Bible MMO: Thou Shalt Not Grief

From Shank's Kinks to Chinese Whispers - News Roundup 26th August 2010

Is nothing sacred? Apparently we've tapped the cliched fantasy settings absolutely dry for MMO inspiration, because FIAA is converting the Old Testament into a browser-based massive multiplayer experience. Rather than a traditional loot grinder, Bible Online resembles the classic Age of Empires as you'll build up a nomadic tribe and lead them to victory. You'll meet classic characters such as Abraham along they way... though we're not sure if they'll be playable yet. Here's hoping that Goliath will be a top-tier unit.

After the initial cynicism wears off, the biblical setting actually starts to make a lot of sense. Plagues? Pestilence? Firestorms and pillars of salt? Suddenly Diablo III's upcoming skillset seems a little underpowered.

You can even join the beta if you're so inclined. [Bible Online via Kotaku]

Shank Devs Working On X360 Glitches; Fix in Sight

From Shank's Kinks to Chinese Whispers - News Roundup 26th August 2010

Shank, the recently-released brawler, has been polarising critical opinion as well as its two console audiences. The PS3 version is working perfectly, but unfortunately the Xbox 360 version suffers from chuggy cinematics and some glitched achievements.

A fix for both problems is apparently on the way... but if you're buying the Xbox 360 version, here's a heads-up. Do not unlock the full game after getting an achievement in the trial version as it will glitch. Also, beware for slow cinematics due to (apparently) a slower disc transfer rate compared to the PS3. Still, it's unbelievable that cutscenes aren't running smoothly when streamed from the hard drive...

We'll soon have a review for you soon enough. [Shank]

Mega Man Online Trailer: Apocalypse NOW

From Shank's Kinks to Chinese Whispers - News Roundup 26th August 2010

Oh great, it's time for another twee and cheesy Mega Man trailer...

...

Oh. My. God.

The newest trailer for Mega Man Online isn't pulling any punches. Expect murder, mayhem, epic anime street riots and some fully dark stylings. As a mashup of every Mega Man era, this trailer really brings it all home into a surprisngly consistent context. Or, in other words, it looks badass. Don't take my word for it, mind.
