Classic Game: Goldeneye £2.99 @ Any Gamestation [N64 Games]

Classic Game: Goldeneye £2.99 @ Any Gamestation [N64 Games]Goldeneye is easily one of the most legendary first person shooters ever made and a game which has to be up there in the top five to play before you die. So if you have an old N64 lying around and fancy once more stalking the corridors of the Facility with your silenced PP7, copies are now going for the low price of £2.99 from all Gamestation stores.

Although it looks a bit dated now – with some arguing that this one is better left to memory – Goldeneye is an FPS which truly delivers in every respect. The game has stacks of great weapons, superb levels, great visuals (for the 64 generation anyway), and one of the most entertaining multiplayer formats ever. And even though some argue this one is better left to memory, to be quite honest, after playing the game recently it does grow on you again very quickly.

Sure the graphics look a bit ropey to begin with and it takes a little while to adjust to the N64, but after a few goes, the game is just as much fun as ever. There is nothing more satisfying than playing multiplayer mode with AKs and grenades and managing to time one so that it goes off right in your opponents face. So if you want to relive the Goldeneye experience once again, get down to your local Gamestation because for £3 these are going to be selling out fast.

Dont post this bullcrap. Most of the gamestations around me dont even sell any retro stuff at all let alone n64 games.

That's all well and good but all of the Gamestations I've been into recently have stopped bothering to even stock N64 games so I wouldn't hold my breath.
Luckily I already bought a copy of Goldeneye from a flea-market for £2 :)

@ Sam

You really think Microsoft will let Nintendo have it? Or vice-versa? Ain't ever gonna happen!

I don't think either Nintendo or Rare have the rights for the game, it lies with the movie studio as far as I'm aware although I think it would still think getting it released on any platform would be difficult.

I agree with Tommy that the deal is pointless anyway as this was a widely produced N64 game and as with most others can be picked up cheaply, if someone had managed to pick up Panzer Dragoon Saga or similar for that price while not a deal (as it wouldn't be anywhere else) it would still make for an amusing read.

Alternatively the Gamestation deal could have been used as a starting point and built up to issues playing Goldeneye now and possible solutions - the N64 analogue sticks were rubbish in terms of durability and a few years later they're no better plus the filtering system the N64 used looks awful when smeared across an HDTV. Emulation is a possible option as current software emulators can render the N64 games at 1080p with anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering which makes them look very pretty although some games can suffer graphical problems and mapping the controls to the 360 controller or similar can be hit and miss. There's also the Goldeneye Source total mod for HL2 which is still in beta but definitely interesting to see how that turns out.
