Codename: Infinite Delivers Amazing Infinite Galaxy Rendering; Destroys Load Screens

Seeks Open Source Assistance

Lunar Workshop, the team behind the cult indie hit Digitanks, has unveiled their prototype for a staggering, revolutionary new way of rendering planets, space and the entire universe - using multiple rendering levels and new free point algorithms to smoothly render a planet from its surface to space, and back again... without any loading screens whatsoever, whilst objects continue to move on its surface. Codename: Infinite is an amazing achievement from a tiny indie studio, and rivals even the likes of Infinity Universe which became vapourware years ago. We've got a video explaining exactly how it works after the jump, and how it could revolutionise games like Mass Effect. Or everything.

However, Lunar Workshop has reached the limits of what they can do with the prototype - and have made the prototype open-source so that other bedroom coders or even AAA titans can take a look at the software for themselves. Get it here, if you're interested. We can't wait to see what happens.
